Each assignment is led by the senior consultant responsible for the client relationship. That experienced search professional provides close guidance to supporting team members and also personally plays an active role in the actual conduct of the assignment.
With communication essential to the success of each assignment, we take the initiative in regularly informing the client of the progress of the search and in soliciting client feedback to ensure the process has been tailored to meet the particular needs of each assignment.
The typical search process is outlined below:
Initial Meeting
An in-depth discussion is held regarding the client's industry, business and organization, the position responsibilities and the candidate qualifications. Key members of the client organization participate, ideally including the company or division head, the hiring executive, the human resources executive, and others with whom the individual will interact closely. The senior consultant responsible for the client relationship leads the effort and, when feasible, other members of the recruiting team also attend.

Specifications Development
A draft of the search specifications is developed reflecting the initial meeting and detailed discussions. The draft-document provides an opportunity for comment from appropriate individuals in the client organization. Any necessary adjustments are made to reflect a clear and consistent understanding by those closely involved in the recruiting assignment. The finalized specifications are shared with various individuals in support of candidate development.

Research
The research objective is to thoroughly investigate target organizations and identify individuals who will be the focus of recruiting efforts. The research effort is both broad and deep and includes any organizations identified in discussions as targets of particular interest. Trusted industry contacts are selected. Industry publications, associations and events are all closely examined. Proprietary and external databases are utilized, and related search assignments are closely evaluated. While research is heaviest at the outset of the search, it is continued and refined throughout the entire search process.

Candidate Development
A significant number of candidates are developed through extensive individual conversations and networking with well-placed and discerning industry leaders. Particular focus is placed on identifying candidates who are not actively exploring career options but who are recognized as accomplished professionals. The search consultant plays a critical persuasive role in engaging these individuals and gaining their participation in the recruiting process. Assessments are made with regard to the experience requirements of the position and the potential fit within the culture of the client organization. Within the constraints of confidentiality, candidate appropriateness is confirmed with other industry contacts.

Consultant Interviews
A short-list of candidates is selected for face-to-face interview by the consultant. This group includes a sufficient number of individuals to allow a smaller, more refined slate to be selected for ultimate referral to the client. The purpose of the interview is twofold: to establish the reality of the candidate so that relative assessments can be made; and to properly present both client and position for the candidate's own evaluation. Intense focus is given to all areas that are important in assessing candidate fit. Similarly, all relevant aspects of the client's business and organization are discussed, including the expected contribution of the position.

Final Slate Presentation
In collaboration with the client, a slate of finalist candidates is selected for in-depth interviews by the client organization. A confidential report of the consultant's evaluation of each candidate is provided in preparation for those interviews. Academic credentials also are verified at this time.

Reference Checks
A comprehensive reference evaluation is conducted with individuals the candidate has identified and, when possible, with individuals whom the references identify. A detailed report is provided to the client.

Selection, Negotiation and Closure
We remain involved through the selection of the most appropriate candidate, providing advice to the client and actively participating in discussions and negotiations leading to the candidate's decision to join the company.

Once the search is complete, we maintain contact with client and candidate to ensure smooth integration into the company.
